Your car is waiting, not a taxi queue

Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport (KUA) sits on the west side of Kuantan, about 20 minutes from the town centre. After a flight, nobody wants to stand in a taxi line or wait for a ride app. With SMA, your rental car is already at the airport when you arrive.

Send us your flight number and arrival time when you book. Our staff meet you, walk around the car with you, and hand over the keys. You can be on the road to your hotel, your meeting or the beach a few minutes after you collect your bags.

What airport pickup costs

The airport handover fee is a fixed RM30 each way. Collect and return at the airport and the total location charge is RM60. Collect at the airport and return at our office at Stadium Darul Makmur and you pay RM30 only.

Our counter hours are 8am to 6pm. A handover before 8am or after 5pm adds a meet late fee of RM20, which helps us cover early and late flights. As an example, a Perodua Axia (New) at RM150 a day for three days, collected and returned at the airport, is RM450 plus RM60, before any extras. The deposit for a rental under 7 days is RM100, returned when the car comes back without damage or unpaid summons. The three days include 900 km (300 km per rental day); drive more than that and the RM100 is kept.

Choosing a car for your arrival

Think about people and luggage first. A Perodua Axia or Myvi is easy for one or two travellers with light bags. A Perodua Bezza or Honda City gives more boot space for business trips. Families with children and suitcases are more comfortable in a 7-seat Perodua Alza or Mitsubishi Xpander.

Travelling as a group? Our vans carry 10 to 14 people, so everyone leaves the airport together. For a VIP guest or a wedding party, a Toyota Vellfire or Alphard can wait at arrivals too.

From the airport to wherever you are going

Most guests drive straight to Kuantan town, the beach at Teluk Cempedak or the resorts at Cherating, about 45 minutes north of town. Bandar Indera Mahkota and IIUM Kuantan are close to the airport. Business visitors often head east to the Gebeng industrial area.

Allow extra time in the weekday morning and evening rush. If you plan to drive further, for example back to Kuala Lumpur, tell us when you book. Plan one rental day for every 300 km you will drive, so a Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur return (about 500 km) needs at least 2 days.

Licence and documents for flying visitors

Drivers must be 23 to 65 years old and hold a full driving licence. Probationary (P) licences are not accepted. Visitors from abroad can drive in Malaysia on a valid English-language licence for up to 3 months. Bring your licence and your IC or passport to the handover.

Adding a second driver costs RM20 per booking, and they need to meet the same age and licence rules. A phone holder is RM15 per booking. Child seats are RM20 per seat per day, subject to availability, so ask for them when you book.

Flying home: returning the car at KUA

Tell us your departure flight and we agree a return time that leaves you room to check in. Take a moment to collect your belongings. Our staff check the car with you and the deposit is returned after the inspection, as long as there is no damage or unpaid summons.

Early morning flight? Message us the day before. Our phone and WhatsApp line is open 24 hours, and a return before 8am carries the RM20 meet late fee.
